John Legend
Singer-Songwriter; Activist
John Legend is a singer-songwriter and a pianist, producer and actor. He leads freeamerica, an initiative he launched in 2014 to end mass incarceration and invest in local communities to advance racial equity. In 2007, Legend founded The Show Me Campaign, aiming to provide quality education to every child and address systemic issues in the criminal justice system that disproportionately affect the underprivileged and minorities. His board service includes the FUSE Corps Advisory Board, University of Pennsylvania Law School’s Quattrone Center for the Fair Administration of Justice, Teach for All, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Harlem Village Academies, and Management Leadership for Tomorrow. A winner of all four major performing arts awards, Legend has two Emmys, 12 Grammys, an Oscar, a Tony and a Golden Globe Award, among others.
