Joseph Coughlin is founder and director of the MIT AgeLab, a multidisciplinary research program that seeks to understand the behavior of the 50-plus population and develop innovations to improve their lives. Having taught in MIT’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning since 1997, his work explores how global demographics, technology and changing behaviors are transforming business and society. Coughlin speaks widely and advises companies worldwide, the World Economic Forum and OECD. He served on the White House Conference on Aging Advisory Committee, along with those of several federal agencies. Named one of the 100 Most Creative in Business by Fast Company, he’s a senior contributor to Forbes and author of, most recently, “The Longevity Economy: Unlocking the World’s Fastest Growing, Most Misunderstood Market.”
