Josh Fryday

Josh Fryday is chief service officer at the office of California Governor Gavin Newsom, leading service, volunteer, and civic engagement efforts throughout the state. Previously, he was the mayor of Novato, CA, and president of Golden State Opportunity, leading the expansion and implementation of the California earned-income tax credit. Prior to this, Fryday was chief operating officer of NextGen Climate. Earlier in his career, he served in the Navy as an officer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Fryday is a trustee of Demos, a national think tank focused on issues of economic, racial, and political inequality, and a founding board member of Amazon Frontlines, protecting indigenous communities and territories in the Amazon.
