Joshua Bederson is a brain tumor and cerebrovascular surgeon. He is the Leonard I. Malis, MD/Corinne and Joseph Graber Professor of Neurosurgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Health System, where he is chair of neurosurgery and of artificial intelligence and human health. He is also co-founder and executive director of Mount Sinai BioDesign, playing a pivotal role in advancing surgical technology. Known for his work in leveraging digital-visualization technologies (notably augmented reality and microscope integration) within the operating room, Bederson is co-principal investigator of a $11.6 million medical technology development grant from the New York City Economic Development Corporation. He previously directed Mount Sinai’s neurosurgery residency program after joining the faculty in 1992 as director of the clinical program for cerebrovascular disorders.
