Julia Hamm is president and CEO of the Smart Electric Power Alliance (formerly Solar Electric Power Association), guiding research, education, and collaboration for 1,100 members, including 700 electric utilities. A leader in the transformation to a carbon-free energy system, for over 20 years she’s been advising and collaborating with utilities, solution providers, and government agencies on business models, grid modernization, electrification, and clean energy. Hamm was previously at ICF International, where she supported EPA’s implementation of the Energy Star program. She is founder and board chair of Solar Energy Trade Shows and an ambassador for the US energy secretary’s Clean Energy Education and Empowerment Initiative. Hamm served on the Puerto Rico power authority’s advisory board to guide redevelopment after Hurricane Maria.
