Julián Castro is the founder of People First Future political action committee, which helps elect progressive candidates. He is also an MSNBC/NBC political analyst and host of the "Our America with Julián Castro" podcast. A 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, Castro is the former secretary of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Under his leadership, the Federal Housing Administration lowered mortgage insurance premiums and the ConnectHome project was launched, providing broadband and electronic devices to children living in public and assisted housing. Previously, Castro was mayor of San Antonio, TX. In 2010, Castro was named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and TIME placed him on its 40 under 40 list of rising stars in American politics.
