Kamala Harris is the vice president of the United States, the first female, African American, and Asian American vice president and the highest-ranking female official in US history. Prior to this, she was a US senator from California and served on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Environment and Public Works, and Judiciary committees as well as the Select Committee on Intelligence. Previously, Harris was California attorney general and, before that, district attorney of San Francisco. She began her career at the Alameda County district attorney's office. Harris’s honors include being named to the 2021 Forbes 50 over 50 list and recognition as the 2020 Time person of the year.
