Kara Hurst is vice president of worldwide sustainability at Amazon, responsible for renewable energy, circular economy and waste reduction initiatives, social responsibility, and more. Prior to this, she was CEO of The Sustainability Consortium. For eleven years before that, Hurst was vice president of BSR, where she built global industry practices and led the New York and Washington, D.C., offices. She also co-founded the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition, now the Responsible Business Alliance, and was executive director of OpenVoice, building out early teen channel content for AOL and others. In her early career, Hurst held roles at Children’s Health Council and was a research lead in the public finance and housing division. at Urban Institute.(Amazon is a 2023 Festival Underwriter)
