Karen Brunwasser is a civic activist in Jerusalem and co-founder and chief strategy officer of Mekudeshet, a culture NGO that creates original art and music to bridge divides in the city. She is among the leaders of FeelBeit, a new Israeli-Palestinian culture center on the seam line between East and West Jerusalem. Brunwasser lectures regularly on the role on Jerusalem in social and cultural innovation and leads arts and activism excursions around town. In spring 2023, she was a BAMAH visiting artist and lecturer at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she taught art as a vanguard of social change in Jerusalem. Previously, Brunwasser was deputy director of the Jerusalem Season of Culture, a program officer at the Schusterman Foundation, and communications director of the Shalem Center.
