Kathleen McCartney is president of Smith College. Previously, she was dean of Harvard Graduate School of Education. McCartney has published widely on her research on child care and early childhood experience, education policy, and parenting. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, National Academy of Education, American Psychological Association, and American Psychological Society and a director of the American Council on Education and Consortium on Financing Higher Education. Recipient of the 2013 Harvard College Women’s Professional Achievement Award, she was named one of Massachusetts’ 30 most innovative people by The Boston Globe in 2011 and one of Boston Business Journal’s 2016 Women of Influence.
