Katie Sowers is an offensive assistant with the San Francisco 49ers. The NFL’s second female full-time coach and its first openly LGBT coach, she joined San Francisco in June 2017 as part of the 49ers 2017 Bill Walsh Diversity Fellowship, and was previously a seasonal offensive assistant. Before joining the 49ers, Sowers worked for the Atlanta Falcons, as a coaching intern and then for nine months as a scouting intern. Prior to that, she spent five years as athletic director of the City of Kansas City. Sowers was a member of the 2013 United States Women’s National Football Team and a player in the WFA (Women’s Football Alliance) for eight years.
