Keith Ellison

Keith Ellison is the attorney general of Minnesota, since 2019. From 2007 to 2019, he represented Minnesota’s 5th congressional district in the US House of Representatives, serving on the Financial Services Committee. Ellison‘s legislative accomplishments include protections for credit card holders and renters and tenants rights. He also co-chaired the Progressive Caucus and founded the Antitrust and Consumer Justice Caucuses. Before Congress, Ellison served four years in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Prior to elected office, he was an attorney specializing in civil rights and defense law, and for five years was executive director of the Legal Rights Center. A community activist, Ellison is the first African American and the first Muslim American elected to statewide office in Minnesota.
