Ken Leinbach is executive director of the Urban Ecology Center in Milwaukee, which uses environmental education to inspire urban revitalization. A science educator and leader in community-based education, he has expanded the organization since being hired as its sole employee in 1998. A public speaker on topics including green living, finding abundance, and play, Leinbach authored Urban Ecology: A Natural Way to Transform Kids, Parks, Cities, and the World. He is a member of the governor-appointed Wisconsin Coastal Management Council and founding member of the International Academy for Systems Change. Leinbach’s honors include the Thomas Jefferson Medal for Natural Science, the Roger Tory Peterson Institute’s Nature Educator of the Year, and the St. Mark A.M.E. Church’s (Milwaukee) Martin Luther King Award.
