Kim Hunter Reed is commissioner of higher education for the Louisiana board of regents. She leads the state’s efforts to increase educational attainment and double the number of credentials awarded by 2030. Prior to this, Reed was executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education. Previously, she served in President Obama’s administration as deputy undersecretary at the U.S. Department of Education and led the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Reed is co-chair of the Aspen Institute’s Higher Ed Climate Action Task Force and chair of the Louisiana Cybersecurity Commission. Her recognition includes being named to the 2023 Forbes list of Top 10 Black higher education CEOs to watch.
