Kojo Ako-Asare is managing director of Decarbonization Partners, a joint venture of BlackRock and Temasek. Prior to this, he was a partner at Emerson Collective Ventures and co-led climate-technology investments. Previously, Ako-Asare was chief operating officer at Google X and was responsible for strategy and operations of the Makani project. Before that, he was head of corporate finance at Google (now Alphabet), where his investment team deployed over $1 billion in renewable-energy infrastructure projects. A decorated Marine Corps veteran, Ako-Asare led operations and training for over 250 members of Afghanistan’s National Security Force in 2009. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Citigroup's Investment Bank advising technology companies on mergers, acquisitions and raising capital.
