Kurt Newman is president and CEO of Children’s National Health System, a top-ranked pediatric hospital and a leader in NIH research funding. He has been a surgeon at Children’s National for over 30 years, and in his previous role as chief of surgery, he led the creation of the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation. A professor of surgery and pediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Newman has authored numerous scientific publications, as well as a book on the significance of pediatric medicine entitled Healing Children, A Surgeon’s Stories from the Frontiers of Pediatric Medicine, published in June 2017.
