Kwanele Asante is chairperson of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Cancer Prevention and Control in the Republic of South Africa. She is also secretary general elect of the African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC). A lawyer and bioethicist, Asante is a cancer equity activist committed to sharing ideas on how the African cancer patient’s voice can be included in global cancer equity and research deliberations. During the 70th World Health Assembly in Geneva, she was named one of twelve Women in Global Health and GE Healthcare Heroines of Health. She was the recipient of the Harvard Global Health Catalyst – 2016 African Ambassador Award.
