Lamont Jones is general counsel of boxing operations at Haymon Boxing Management. Prior to this, he was assistant general counsel at the Aspen Institute. Previously, Jones was general counsel of USA Track and Field and executive director of USA Boxing. A card game enthusiast, he is the author of “The Gist of Bid Whist: The Culturally Rich Card Game from Black America.” Jones’ book explores how card games help combat isolation and loneliness and highlights bid whist's cultural significance in Black American communities through stories from Magic Johnson, Thurgood Marshall, Michael Jordan and Jesse Jackson. Additionally, the book celebrates the game's original popularizers, the Pullman porters, and the role bid whist played in their civic and social achievements.
