Leon Rodriguez is a partner at Seyfarth Shaw, specializing in litigation, investigations, and public policy with special focus on immigration and health care. He was director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Homeland Security Department from 2014 to 2017, appointed by President Obama and overseeing the growth of admission of refugees from Syria, Iraq, and other areas. From 2011 to 2014, Rodriguez was director of the Office for Civil Rights at the US Health and Human Services Department. Previously, he was a state and federal prosecutor. Rodriguez is a board member of the refugee-serving organization HIAS, which assisted his family when they arrived as refugees from Cuba in the 1960s.
