Lulu Garcia-Navarro is host of “Weekend Edition Sunday” on NPR, where she co-hosts the morning news podcast, “Up First.” She was previously an NPR correspondent based in Brazil, Israel, Mexico, and Iraq. Garcia-Navarro was one of the first reporters to enter Libya after the 2011 Arab Spring uprising began; her reporting there earned her a 2011 Peabody Award, Lowell Thomas Award, Edward R. Murrow Award, and Gracie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement. The recipient of a Gracie with her “Weekend Edition” team for coverage of the #MeToo movement, she also has a Peabody and a duPont-Columbia University Silver Baton for contributions to NPR’s reporting on Iraq, as well as awards for reporting on migration in Mexico and the Brazilian Amazon.
