M. Sanjayan is a conservation scientist and CEO of Conservation International, a global nonprofit dedicated to securing the benefits that nature provides to humanity, including a stable climate and productive oceans. He joined Conservation International in 2014 as executive vice president and senior scientist, overseeing a $1.1 billion capital campaign and the brand campaign, Nature Is Speaking, and was named CEO in 2017. Sanjayan was previously lead scientist at The Nature Conservancy. He has published many scientific papers and co-edited the book Connectivity Conservation. An accomplished communicator, he has hosted over a dozen award-winning documentaries and was an Emmy-nominated contributor to “CBS Evening News.” Sanjayan is a Catto Fellow at the Aspen Institute.
