Maggie Loughran

Maggie Loughran is an English major at the University of Chicago and editor in chief of The Chicago Maroon, the independent student newspaper of University of Chicago since 1892. She has also been news editor and a news reporter. Some of the issues that have defined Loughran’s time as a campus journalist are the tension between free speech and activism, policies concerning Title IX and sexual assault, and the relationship between Greek organizations and the university at large. A former intern for CNN Politics, she was introduced to journalism during her senior year of high school when she created blog to stimulate intellectual curiosity and political awareness among classmates.
