Matthew Wynia is director of the Center for Bioethics and Humanities, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He is director of physician and patient engagement for the American Medical Association’s Improving Health Outcomes. Wynia’s training is in internal medicine, infectious diseases, public health, and health services research. His career has included developing a research institute and training programs focusing on bioethics, professionalism, and policy issues (the AMA Institute for Ethics) and founding the AMA’s Center for Patient Safety. Wynia is the author of more than 140 published pieces, co-editor of several books, and co-author of a book on fairness in health care design.
