Max Baucus is founder of the Baucus Group. He is a former US ambassador to China from 2014 to 2017, US senator from Montana from 1978 to 2014, and US representative from 1974 to 1978. Baucus was chairman and ranking member of the Senate Committee on Finance, where he was an architect of the Affordable Health Care Act. Additionally, he secured congressional approval of free trade with China, facilitating China’s entrance into the WTO in 2001. Baucus also served on the Joint Committee on Taxation, Committee on Agriculture, Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction (Super Committee), and the Committee on Environment and Public Works, chairing its Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
