Megan Garcia is the founder and chair of Blessed Mother Family Foundation. After losing her 14-year-old son to suicide, she works to raise awareness about the dangers of AI chatbot technology and advocates for oversight of online protections for children. To this end, Garcia filed a lawsuit against the founders and financial backers of Character.ai. With a goal of starting a dialogue with technology creators, stakeholder partners, and lawmakers who have the power to protect online spaces for children, she has appeared on CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, the “On With Kara Swisher” podcast, as well as the Gayle King and Glenn Beck radio shows. Garcia’s story and advocacy have also been covered by The New York Times, People, and The Washington Post, among other publications.
