Melanie Lundquist is an activist philanthropist and vice chair of the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools, a nonprofit supporting LA public schools that she and her husband, Richard, helped launch as founding donors. Their gifts have also expanded the work of the News Literacy Project (where she is a board member), helped transform health care delivery, spurred biomedical research and innovation, and propelled efforts to combat climate change. Lundquist also serves on the University of Southern California President’s Leadership Council. The Los Angeles Business Journal named her 2019 Philanthropist of the Year, and McPherson College honored her with a Doctor of Humane Letters in 2020. Signatories of the Giving Pledge, the Lundquists have appeared five times on The Philanthropy 50 list by the Chronicle of Philanthropy.
