Milenko Matanovic is an artist and founder of the nonprofit Pomegranate Center, where he leads the Institute for Everyday Democracy, a program that’s researching and developing a body of thought about improving our democratic practices. Matanovic left an art career with the OHO Group, a collective in his native Slovenia, for the United States and in 1986 founded the Pomegranate Center. As executive director until 2017, he oversaw efforts to help communities around the world build more than 60 Gathering Places, convene hundreds of community engagement plans, and train people in the Pomegranate Method for community engagement. Matanovic now also focuses his time on writing, public speaking, training, and art.
