Mohamed Bailor Barrie

Mohammed Bailor Barrie is a physician and strategic advisor to Partners in Health. Previously, he co-founded Wellbody Alliance, an organization that brought medical care to civilian amputee victims of Sierra Leone’s civil war, then became a general health care provider offering programs for HIV, TB, and maternal and child health. When Ebola struck Sierra Leone, Bailor Barrie partnered Wellbody with Partners in Health to deliver care; the partnership now works to strengthen Sierra Leone’s basic health care system. Growing up in rural Sierra Leone, he earned money to complete high school by selling candy, roasted meat, and kerosene by the roadside, then became one of the first graduates Sierra Leone’s national medical school. Bailor Barrie is participating in the Aspen Ideas Festival as a 2019 Scholar.
