Nazira Wali
Cellist, Afghanistan National Institute of Music
Nazira Wali is a cellist from Afghanistan with the Afghanistan National Institute of Music. She has performed in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, New England Conservatory, Muscat Opera House in Oman, and at embassies from around the world. Wali is a founding member of Afghanistan’s all-female orchestra Zohra. Also a vocalist, she is a member of the Nahid Choir Ensemble. A 2021 graduate of Piedmont Community College in North Carolina, where she earned a place on the Dean’s List, Wali is a cello performance major in the studio of Professor Kimberly Patterson at Memphis University. She has been featured in the Daily Memphian. A former schoolmate of Elham and Mehran Fanous, Wali will be performing with the Fanoos Family Ensemble.
