Neal Katyal is the Paul and Patricia Saunders Professor of Law at Georgetown University and a partner at Milbank’s Washington, D.C., office. He was previously acting solicitor general of the United States. Katyal has argued 52 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, including successfully striking down the Guantanamo military tribunals, defending the constitutionality of the Voting Rights Act as well as the Peace Cross in Maryland, gene patents and corporate law. Katyal is vice president and a trustee of the Supreme Court Historical Society. Honored with the U.S. Justice Department’s Edmund Randolph Award, he was named one of the top 200 lawyers in the United States by Forbes in 2024 and to Lawdragon’s list of 500 Leading Lawyers from 2005 to 2024.
