Nigel Poor is an artist, podcast host and photography professor at California State University, Sacramento. Her work as a visual artist, which explores the ways people leave behind evidence of their existence, has been exhibited widely and is in museum collections including the San Francisco MOMA, the M.H. de Young Museum and the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Poor co-hosts and co-produces “Ear Hustle,” a podcast based in San Quentin State Prison that she co-founded to help tell stories about prison life. She was previously a volunteer photography teacher in the prison for Mount Tamalpais College. “Ear Hustle” is a Pulitzer Prize finalist and two-time Peabody Award nominee. Poor is the author of “The San Quentin Project” and co-author of “This Is Ear Hustle: Unflinching Stories of Everyday Prison Life.”
