Pat Gruber is CEO of Gevo, leading its work to commercialize isobutanol for gasoline blendstock and renewable, low-carbon jet fuel and gasoline. He has spent over 30 years developing and commercializing renewable, biobased technologies to replace petrochemicals. Previously, Gruber led the development and commercialization of PLA, a thermoplastic monomer derived from renewable sources, at Cargill and co-founded Natureworks. He was the editor of the two-volume book, Biorefineries — Industrial Processes and Products, and holds more than 60 US patents. His honors include Biotechnology Industry Organization’s George Washington Carver Award, the Presidential Green Chemistry Award, and Discover Magazine’s Discover Award for Environmental Innovation.
