Peter Badimak Yaro is executive director of BasicNeeds-Ghana, a mental health and development advocacy organization that he’s led for 15 years. A development worker with two decades’ experience and a leading mental health advocate in Ghana, he has worked on increasing access to community-based integrated mental health care services and influencing policies and practices, among other roles. Yaro also advocates for implementation of the provisions of the Mental Health Law of Ghana. With master’s degree-level academic qualifications in public mental health, international mental health policy and services, and community development, his ambition is to see the poorest and most vulnerable live in dignity and be active members of their families and communities.
