Raina Thiele is senior adviser to the U.S. Department of the Interior for Alaska affairs and strategic priorities. Previously, she was associate director of intergovernmental affairs in the Obama White House and was President Obama’s tribal liaison. Thiele also worked at the Office of Management and Budget, where she oversaw multibillion-dollar federal programs. Born and raised in Alaska, she is Dena’ina Athabascan and Yup’ik. Thiele’s family hails from Pedro Bay Village on Lake Iliamna and Alexander Creek.
