Rodney Harrell is the director of livability thought leadership at AARP, where he leads the AARP Public Policy Institute’s Livable Communities work. His research on housing preferences, neighborhood choice, and community livability are integral to the AARP Livability Index, which he and his team created, and he leads the Future of Housing initiative. Harrell is also the creator and editor in chief of the DrUrbanPolicy blog. Previously, he was an independent research and evaluation consultant and a researcher and instructor at University of Maryland, College Park. Harrell has been a CPAR Research Fellow at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and a Governor’s Policy Fellow at the State of Maryland.
