Rohit Prasad is senior vice president and head scientist for artificial general intelligence at Amazon. He was previously senior vice president and head scientist for Amazon Alexa. In prior roles at Amazon, he directed areas of conversational AI such as far-field speech recognition, natural language understanding and the machine-learning technologies that helped launch Amazon Echo’s paradigm of hands-free interaction with ambient devices. Earlier in his career, Prasad was deputy manager and senior director of the speech, language and multimedia business unit at Raytheon BBN Technologies. The author of more than 100 scientific articles, he holds several patents. Prasad is a board director for the Partnership on AI, a nonprofit partnership of academic, civil society, industry and media organizations creating solutions so that AI advances positive outcomes.
