Rolando Martinez is a sustainability specialist with the City of Miami Beach Environment and Sustainability Department, responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs and practices to promote sustainability and environmental conservation throughout the community. His focuses include increasing public education and engagement, reducing the city’s waste and carbon footprint, and coordinating events for the department’s Sustainability Division. Previously, Martinez was a sustainability coordinator with the Office of University Sustainability for Florida International University, where he worked to develop and implement a variety of green initiatives and promote environmentally conscious practices across the campus. He earned his master’s degree in environmental policy and resource management at FIU in 2021, and has completed several professional certifications and credentials, including the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s Envision Sustainability Professional.
