Ron Brownstein is editorial director for strategic partnerships at Atlantic Media, where he regularly contributes to The Atlantic and National Journal, including a weekly column on both websites. He also coordinates political coverage and activities across the company’s publications. A longtime political analyst for CNN, Brownstein was previously a columnist and political correspondent for the Los Angeles Times and a correspondent for National Journal. He is the author of six books, most recently The Second Civil War: How Extreme Partisanship Has Paralyzed Washington and Polarized America. A two-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of presidential campaigns, Brownstein is the recipient of several journalism awards.
