Sambhav Sankar is senior vice president for programs at Earthjustice, a public interest environmental law firm where he supervises its lawyers and lobbyists, as well as advocacy strategies on issues including environmental justice, biodiversity protection and the clean energy transition. Sankar was previously executive director of the Environmental Council of the States and senior technology advisor for The Nature Conservancy. He’s been an engineer at Superfund sites, an attorney in the Justice Department’s environmental division, a senior executive in charge of environmental compliance at General Electric, and counsel to the presidential commission that investigated the Deepwater Horizon spill. He also worked as a welder and boat captain and clerked for three judges, including Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
