Shannon Van Sant

Shannon Van Sant is a documentary filmmaker, co-founder of Press Forward and a frequent news anchor and reporter for NPR. Previously, she reported throughout Asia and Africa. In 2006, Van Sant became an on-air host for the documentary unit of CCTV, Chinese state television. Subsequently, she reported investigative documentaries on human rights and rule of law throughout China, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and sub-Saharan Africa for PBS television and CBS News. The director of 18 documentaries, she received Amnesty International’s 2011 Human Rights Award for her reporting work in Asia. She has also written for The Economist, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and POLITICO.
