Sheila Pott is the mother of Audrie Taylor Pott, who committed suicide shortly after being sexually assaulted and then bullied via social media in 2012. She is the co-founder of the Audrie Pott Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing anti-cyber-bullying presentations to schools, art and music scholarships, and grants for school therapists. Among other legislation inspired by Audrie’s story, Pott and the foundation championed the passage of “Audrie’s” law, signed into law in California in 2014, which toughened penalties for juveniles convicted of sexually abusing unconscious and disabled victims. Her daughter’s story also inspired the 2016 documentary, Audrie and Daisy, by filmmakers Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk.
