Shinjini Kundu

Fellow Physician and Research Scientist, The Johns Hopkins Hospital

Shinjini Kundu is a fellow physician and research scientist in the department of radiology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her pioneering research focuses on developing technology to detect diseases from otherwise imperceptible cues in medical images, potentially allowing for early identification of osteoarthritis, revealing brain abnormalities post-concussion, exploring the impact of aerobic fitness on counteracting natural brain aging, and uncovering connections between genes, brain function, and behavior in genetically mediated autism. Kundu's research seeks to develop explainable A.I. models in medical image analysis. She has been named a Forbes 30 under 30 and MIT Technology Review 35 under 35 and recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. She is joining Washington University as a faculty member of the School of Medicine specializing in radiology and as a faculty member in the department of computer science.
