Simon Haas is one-half of the artist/designer duo The Haas Brothers, with his twin, Nikolai. Their works are situated between the contexts of art and design, frequently departing from the functional and moving toward the exclusively sculptural. The Haas Brothers create furniture and sculptural objects that explore themes of mathematics, science and nature, sexuality, nostalgia, and social equality. Represented by R & Company Gallery and Marianne Boesky Gallery, their work is exhibited in several permanent collections and, most recently, in a solo exhibition, Ferngully, at Miami’s Bass Museum. Raised in an artistic family and having learned stone carving under their father, Simon studied painting at RISD.
