Stephanie Murphy

Stephanie Murphy is a Democratic member of the US House of Representatives, representing Florida’s 7th congressional district. She serves on the Ways and Means Committee, where she is a member of the Subcommittees on Trade and on Worker and Family Support, and the Armed Services Committee, where she is vice chair of the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Special Operations. Murphy is co-chair of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of Democrats focused on fiscal responsibility, a strong national defense, and a principled and pragmatic approach to legislating. Previously, she was a businesswoman and college instructor. Prior to that, she was a national security specialist in the office of the US Secretary of Defense, focused on counterterrorism, foreign military relations, and strategic planning.
