Stephen Ondra is the chief medical advisor at MITRE for its work as operator of the CMS Alliance to Modernize Healthcare federally funded research and development center (Health FFRDC). Sponsored by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Health FFRDC is available to all operating and staff divisions of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Ondra serves as an adviser to all HHS organizations, providing thought leadership, guiding project teams, and building partnerships with the private sector to promote the health and wellbeing of the nation. Prior to MITRE, he held leadership roles in health care systems, payer organizations, industry, and government at both the Veterans Administration and the White House. As a neurosurgeon and researcher, Ondra helped develop new surgical procedures and innovative medical devices. (MITRE is a 2024 Festival Underwriter)
