Sumi Paranjape

Sumi Paranjape is director for technology advancement and biotechnology at Vulcan, focusing on development and implementation of solutions for problems in health, biotechnology, and wildlife. She is currently working with an interdisciplinary team to develop solutions for surveillance, detection, and response to pandemics. Previously, she was a program manager for biological nonproliferation and health security at the US Departments of State and Defense, leading programs in Asia and Latin America and playing a foundational role in developing the US-WHO MOU for Health Security. Paranjape started her career in molecular biology and biochemistry and spent several years at the University of California, Berkeley, where she investigated host-pathogen interactions during dengue infection.
