Susan Burton is the founder of A New Way of Life Reentry Project, creating welcoming and healing spaces for women to rejoin their communities after incarceration, develop as leaders, and work toward liberation. In 2018, she launched the Sisterhood Alliance for Freedom and Equality Housing Network to replicate the humane reentry model. The network includes members located across the United States, Uganda, Nigeria, and Kenya. Burton is also the co-founder of All of Us or None and the Formerly Incarcerated and Convicted People and Families Movement organizations. A criminal justice reform leader, her memoir, Becoming Ms. Burton, earned the Goddard Riverside Stephan Russo Book Prize for Social Justice. Burton’s recognition includes being named a CNN Top Ten Hero.
