Teddy Abrams is the music director of the Louisville Orchestra. In this role since 2014, he has established the Louisville Orchestra Creators Corps composers’ residency initiative, embarked on the community-building “In Harmony” tour of Kentucky, and co-founded the Louisville Orchestra Rap School. Abrams’ recent compositions include “Mammoth,” inspired by and performed in Mammoth Cave National Park, and a musical about Muhammad Ali. He has conducted the Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco symphonies; the Los Angeles and Buffalo, N.Y., philharmonics; Helsinki and Luxembourg philharmonics; and Royal Scottish National Orchestra, among others. A Grammy Award winner, Abrams was named Musical America’s 2022 Conductor of the Year.
