Thomas Doherty is a clinical and environmental psychologist and the founder of Sustainable Self. He specializes in addressing concerns about environmental issues and climate change. Co-host of the “Climate Change and Happiness” podcast, Doherty’s publications on nature and mental health include “The Psychological Impacts of Global Climate Change,” which has been cited over 700 times. A fellow of the American Psychological Association, Doherty was a member of its first task force on global climate change. Past president of the Society for Environmental, Population, and Conservation Psychology, he is the founding editor of the academic journal Ecopsychology. Previously, he founded an environmentally focused certificate program for mental health counselors at Lewis and Clark Graduate School.
