Thomas Overthun is an executive director at IDEO, where he co-leads the design company’s consumer product and retail domain and its industrial design practice. For over 25 years at IDEO, he has created and shepherded new products including furniture for the workplace and home, sports products, consumer electronics, kitchen tools, and personal care items. His current work explores circular-based design methods to help usher in a new era of climate-positive products. Previously, Overthun was part of the internal design team at Philips. His work has been exhibited at the Cooper Hewitt Museum and the Chicago Athenaeum; has been honored by the International Design Excellence Awards, Red Dot, I.D. magazine, and Spark; and been published in GQ, Business Week, and I.D. International.
